Lift the Breasts While Increasing Their Volume

We know that a breast lift procedure, or mastopexy, is helpful in uplifting the breasts. It involves the removal of excessive skin and tightening of the tissue for reshaping and supporting the newly formed breast contours. But a breast lift combined with breast augmentation can help you enjoy breasts that are rounder, fuller, and extremely youthful in appearance.

There are several reasons why a woman would consider undergoing a combined procedure of breast augmentation and mastopexy. These typically include:

  • Aging
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Weight changes
  • Heredity

Candidates

If you find that your breasts have a “deflated” and sagging appearance and have undergone volume loss due to breastfeeding, weight loss, or aging, then you can consult your surgeon about getting augmentation mastopexy surgery. This combined procedure can instantly restore youthful shape and fullness to your breasts. Those who have always desired bigger and more lifted breasts can benefit greatly from augmentation mastopexy surgery.

You may consider the breast lift with implants procedure to address the following concerns:

  • Breast asymmetry (one breast or both breasts)
  • Loss of breast volume and shape
  • Loss of perkiness and fullness in the upper part of the breasts
  • Sagging breasts
  • Visible stretch marks on breasts

The Procedure: Augmentation Mastopexy

The augmentation mastopexy procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. Alternatively, local anesthesia and intravenous sedation may be chosen by some doctors. The entire procedure takes approximately one to two hours to be completed (this can vary from surgery to surgery).

After anesthesia has been administered, your plastic surgeon will make incisions. The surgeon will insert the breast implants through these incisions. These implants can be filled with saline or silicone. They are generally placed underneath the pectoral muscle of your chest. Following insertion of implants, excess loose skin is removed from the breasts for a perkier appearance.

Recovery Process

After the completion of the augmentation mastopexy procedure, your doctor will give certain recovery instructions that you must follow for the proper healing of the breasts. It is normal to experience some amount of soreness and swelling in the first four to six weeks after surgery. Some patients may decide to wear a pain pump for up to five days after surgery. This can help reduce post-operative pain. Your surgeon may prescribe some pain medication and instruct you to wear a support bra or elastic bandage to fasten healing.

Augmentation mastopexy patients are usually required to visit their doctor for follow-up appointments on the second day, and then after a week, a month, and four months. The drains inserted immediately after the surgery are usually removed at the first follow-up appointment. The swelling tends to disappear within six weeks of recovery.
