When many people begin their research before getting a tummy tuck, they come to find that there are a few different options in terms of technique and outcome. To help you better understand your tummy tuck options and pick the best one for you, read over these three common types of abdominoplasty procedures.
-
Full Tummy Tuck
A full tummy tuck is what most people probably think of when imagining abdominoplasty. This option is for most men and women who are bothered by loose skin or muscle tissue in their abdominal area. Women who have had children and have now completed their families or anyone who has lost a significant amount of weight can all be good candidates for a full tummy tuck.*
-
Mini Tummy Tuck
Relatively thinner men and women who have very small amounts of loose skin or abdominal muscles might be better suited for a mini tummy tuck.A mini tummy tuck typically involves a shorter incision, but won’t be able to achieve as extensive results as a full tummy tuck. Only 20% or few patients are good candidates for a Mini Tummy Tuck*
Most people will be happier with their results after a full tummy tuck rather than a mini.*
-
Tummy Tuck with Lipo
Since abdominoplasty only addresses sagging skin and loose muscle tissue, many people choose to combine their tummy tuck with liposuction. The addition oflipo can address stubborn pockets of abdominal fat that aren’t responding to your dieting and exercise efforts. A tummy tuck with lipo is usually more limited than a Full Tummy Tuck due to concerns with healing, however you can have liposuction on other areas (flanks, arms, legs and back) at the same time as a full tummy tuck*
